How Do Heat Pumps Work

Heat pumps are a special type of hot water system. Instead of water passing through the collectors a refrigerant is used. Heat is extracted from the atmosphere using the refrigerant gas and a compressor (in much the same way as heat is extracted from your fridge) and used to heat water stored in the tank at ground level.
